Ocean Park Celebrates Reopening July Dates Open for Reservation Starting Tuesday in Response to Overwhelming Support

2020-06-13

Ocean Park has officially resumed operations today after being temporarily closed for more than four months due to the spread of the COVID-19. Over a thousand visitors patiently awaited the reopening since early this morning. The Park also received overwhelming support as reservation places for the first 14 days of the Park’s reopening swiftly filled up within just four days since the reservation system launch earlier this week. As a result, on 16 June starting from 10:00 a.m., Ocean Park will open reservation places for dates up to 24 July, while gradually increasing the Park’s capacity to a maximum of 18,000 according to the operational situation.

To welcome the long-awaiting visitors to the Park, Ocean Park’s resident mascots Whiskers & Friends, alongside performers, frontline and supporting staff to a countdown for the much anticipated reopening moment at the main entrance. The Park has invited Mr. Cheung and his family who were the first group of visitors arriving the Park at 9:00 a.m., to take a memorable photo with Whiskers and Friends. Mr. Cheung mentioned that his family came to Ocean Park after spending a night at the Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel to celebrate Father’s Day and a young kid’s birthday. A special gift pack encompassing hand sanitiser, masks, and an adorable plush toy of mascot Redd was also provided to each of the first 100 visitors.

Strengthened Hygiene Measures
To ensure the health and safety of visitors, employees, and animals, the maximum instantaneous in-park capacity will be reduced to 9,000 (25% of the usual level) in the first two weeks following reopening. A series of anti-epidemic measures will also be implemented. All visitors are required to go through Infra-red thermo-imaging machines for a body temperature check. Visitors will then be required to present their reservation QR code and registered tickets for admission to prevent overcrowding and provide visitors with a safe environment, to enjoy the outdoors, thrill rides and the Park’s diverse conservation and entertainment offerings with ease.

Overwhelming Online Reservation Response
“Reservations for all dates until 26 June have been filled up; the in-park restaurants are fully booked this weekend as well; we are immensely grateful for everyone’s support towards Ocean Park. Base on the operational situation, the Park will gradually increase its park-wide capacity to 50% of normal volume, which is 18,000 people, starting from the third week (week of 27 June) following reopening. This will enable us to welcome more visitors to the Park and provide them with entertainment, educational experiences and conservation advocacy, especially during the summer holiday season, when families are planning staycations in Hong Kong due to the epidemic and their subsequent outbound travel cancellations. Reservations for 27 June to 24 July will be open on 16 June, starting from 10:00 a.m., enabling Hong Kong resident to make their plans ahead of time,” said Timothy Ng, Executive Director, Operations & Entertainment of Ocean Park.

Ocean Park has launched exclusive reopening offers for Hong Kong residents. Children aged 11 or below will enjoy free admission with a “Buy HK$50 Get HK$50 Free” coupon for skill games, while adults will enjoy a 30% discount on admission at HK$350, and receive the equivalent of a full rebate in the form of cash vouchers valued at HK$350 for spending at the Park. Ocean Park also joined hands with Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel to launch the Home Kong Amazing Moment Room Package earlier. Offering visitors one-stop enjoyments including one-night deluxe room accommodation and breakfast buffet at the Hotel, Ocean Park admission tickets for two adults and one child, as well as dining vouchers valued at HK$1,000 for use at the Hotel or designated restaurants at the Park, the Package has received an overwhelming response. The Park will operate six days a week, except Tuesdays during the first two months of service resumption (13 June - 31 July).
