Water World Ocean Park today welcomed members of the Hong Kong, China Olympic Delegation to chill out at the Park with their teammates, families and friends after months of intense preparation and competition.
Co-organised by Ocean Park and the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC), the Hong Kong, China Olympic Delegation Water World Ocean Park Fun Day kicked off with a celebratory stage event attended by Timothy Fok Tsun-ting, President and Ronnie Wong Man-chiu, Honorary Secretary General of SF&OC; and Pui Kwan-kay, Chef de Mission of the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, along with Ocean Park representatives.
Among the guests were gold medallist Edgar Cheung Ka-long and his fencing teammates Cheung Siu-lun, Ryan Choi Chun-yin, Lawrence Ng Lok-wang, Coco Lin Yik-hei and Chu Ka-mong, and their coach Gregory Koenig; cyclists Choy Hiu-fung and Leung Bo-yee.
The collaboration between Ocean Park and SF&OC aims to promote sports through various activities, encourage active lifestyles and help attain the ultimate goal of “Sport for All” in Hong Kong. It also synergises with Ocean Park’s new direction to fully leverage its natural setting and transform into a resort and leisure destination.
“We are honoured to be hosting the Hong Kong, China Olympic Delegation at Water World today. To be qualified for a sporting event of the highest international standards was already very challenging. Being able to take home Olympic medals was a solid proof that the full-on effort and persistence of the athletes, coaches and working team paid off in the end,” said Lau Ming-wai, Chairman of Ocean Park Corporation. “The outstanding achievements of the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the Tokyo Olympics have brought people from all walks of life together, and we hope the city’s passion for sports will live on. Ocean Park is glad to be joining forces with SF&OC to promote sports development in Hong Kong.”
To honour Hong Kong athletes’ outstanding achievements at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Ocean Park presented the medallists with Water World Ocean Park Lifetime Passes and additional Annual Passes. Other athletes were also presented with Annual Passes for them to enjoy the water park with family and friends.
