The Once in Five Years Special Rope Replacement Moment!

You are probably familiar with Ocean Park’s classic Cable Car, but what about the cable car rope replacement that happens only once in five years? Operating since 1977, our Cable Car is one of the oldest cable car systems in the world. To celebrate this special moment, we're launching our first Cable Car Rope RePLAYcement STEM Workshop, where kids aged 6 or above have the chance to visit the Cable Car back of house area with their parents, to learn about rope replacement from our French cable car specialist, and then head over to the workshop to understand the mechanism and even build a simple cable car system themselves—the dream experience for any curious little STEM fan!

3 Key Features of the Cable Car Rope RePLAYcement STEM Workshop:

1. A First-Hand Observation

Guided by a specialist, your visit to the Cable Car back of house area will allow you to observe the cable car system and clamps from a professional perspective, as well as a special moment that takes place only once every five years.

2. An Edutaining STEM Workshop

By building a simple cable car system at the STEM Workshop, you can gain insight into the physics of the system, techniques of cable splicing, and secrets of engineering, and unleash creativity by decorating your own cable car model!

3. A Rare Photo Opportunity

This memorable learning journey also includes an actual cable car ride, so you can really experience the workload and importance of the replacement project. What's more, you'll have the rare opportunity of taking a photo with the working site to show family and friends later, while telling them all about this amazing experience!

After attending the Cable Car Rope RePLAYcement STEM Workshop, participants will be receiving a certificate, marking the end of a fruitful journey!
 

Special Arrangements of " Cable Car Rope RePLAYcement STEM Workshop” Programme Under the COVID-19 Epidemic Situation

If you have any of the following symptoms within 14 days prior to or on the programme date, including fever, respiratory infection, shortness of breath, sore throat, diarrhea, loss of taste or smell; have been in close contact with any person who is a confirmed or preliminary positive case of COVID-19 infection in Hong Kong or overseas within 14 days prior to or on the programme date; have any Compulsory Quarantine Order or Compulsory Testing Notice now or on the programme date, the Park reserves the right to reject your participation. If you have already applied for this programme and encountered the above situation, please contact us as soon as possible to make appropriate arrangements. Participants are required to wear surgical masks throughout the programme. All apparatuses and equipment will also be thoroughly disinfected after every use.

HK$380 / group (includes 1 adult and 1 child aged 6 years old or above）*

* The price of the admission ticket is not included in the programme fee. A valid admission ticket to the Park is required to join the programme. The enrolment is on a 2-person basis. Participant group with less than 2 persons have to pay for 2-person full price. Each child must be accompanied by an adult.

Capacity

10 groups per session, maximum 2 participants per group. (Each child must be accompanied by an adult.)

Language:

Cantonese, supplemented by English.

Note:

• Participants should wear appropriate outfit and closed toe shoes. Please do not wear slippers/sandals.
• Participants must be aged 6 or above. 
• All participants must be paid. No accompanying guest is allowed (include children who are under age of 3).
• Eligible participants aged 6-11 must be accompanied by a paying parent/ guardian who satisfies all programme requirements. An eligible paying parent/ guardian can accompany a maximum of ONE eligible paying participants aged 6-11.
• Please arrive at the gathering location on time. Latecomers will be regarded as absentees and might not be admitted to the programme.
• All applications will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
• A valid admission ticket to the Park is required to join the programme. The price of the admission ticket is not included in the programme fee.
• Reservation will be automatically made for every successful enrolment of this programme, participants are not required to make an online reservation.
• The content, itinerary, dates and application methods of the programmes may subject to change or cancellation due to particular circumstances without prior notice.
